Posted on 23 September 2009 by randompanda

Microsoft have announced a new and improved wireless internet adapter to be released for the Xbox 360.

The advert was first spotted on the box for the Gears of War 2 Game of the Year edition. Talking to Joystiq, they saidd it will allow 360 gamers to “seamlessly connect with their home network with the highest wireless ‘N’ technology”., and that it offers “another choice to consumers,”. In other words saying that will sit alongside the current adapter rather than replace it.

The original adapter is sold for around £60 in the shops, but check ebay if you don’t mind paying 20 quid less for a pre-owned one!

Bioshock 2 officially dated!

Posted on 19 September 2009 by randompanda

2k Games have announced an official release date for February 9th, 2010.

Take a look below for the official release:

New York, NY – September 18, 2009 – 2K Games announced today that BioShock 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2007 Game of the Year, will be available worldwide beginning February 9, 2010. The game is now available for pre-order at participating retailers.

Currently in development for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation3 computer entertainment system, and Games for Windows LIVE, BioShock 2 will deliver two unique, yet intertwined experiences that form the perfect blend of explosive first-person shooter combat, compelling storytelling and intense multiplayer action.

Set approximately 10 years after the events of the original BioShock, the halls of Rapture once again echo with sins of the past. Along the Atlantic coastline, a monster has been snatching little girls and bringing them back to the undersea city of Rapture. Players step into the boots of the most iconic denizen of Rapture, the Big Daddy, as they travel through the decrepit and beautiful fallen city, chasing an unseen foe in search of answers and their own survival.

Multiplayer in BioShock 2 will provide a rich prequel experience that expands the origins of the BioShock fiction. Set during the fall of Rapture, players assume the role of a Plasmid test subject for Sinclair Solutions, a premier provider of Plasmids and Tonics in the underwater city of Rapture that was first explored in the original BioShock. Players will need to use all the elements of the BioShock toolset to survive, as the full depth of the BioShock experience is refined and transformed into a unique multiplayer experience that can only be found in Rapture.

BioShock 2 is currently in development at 2K Marin in collaboration with 2K Australia, Digital Extremes and 2K China for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation3 computer entertainment system and Games for Windows LIVE. BioShock 2 will be available worldwide on February 9, 2010. This title is not yet rated by the ESRB.

Crackdown 2 Multiplayer details!

Posted on 11 September 2009 by randompanda

US mag Game Informer has released new details on the Multiplayer mode for the upcoming Crackdown 2. Take a look at the info below!

Here’s the real meat: as rumoured Pacific City hasn’t changed much and still holds the same roads and many of the same buildings as before – although some have been changed or demolished.

As with the first game your agent will grow more powerful as you obtain skill orbs by performing abilities relevant to your character. Super-cops can now perform more varied melee attacks and call in supplies at any time. A “more precise” targeting system is also in, says GI, and players will be rewarded for skill.

New Agency vehicles including a helicopter (!) are promised, plus all old motors will return for the follow-up. Developer Ruffian is pimping its weapon variety too, and in GI’s visit it showed a new powerful shotgun, a rail gun and sticky grenades.

As has been mentioned before, the co-op count is bumped up to four-players (and vehicles now have room for mounted turrets to accommodate the extra teammates) and Crackdown 2 is said to have a stronger focus on co-op play in general. 16-player deathmatch too is apparently “tons of fun” and sports a Call of Duty 4-style progressions system.

The infection in the city means that it will now decay over time, and the mutants roaming the streets will grow far more fearsome as the game progresses. Luckily, they seem to prefer the night as their playtime.

Civilians have responded to this new, increasingly dangerous metropolis by armouring up their cars and carrying weapons, and they’ll often be involved in dynamic events such as selling you goods or being chased down by giant critters.
